Our Mission

Established as an official student organization in 2012, the mission of the Yale Undergraduate Jazz Collective is to support the education, appreciation, and performance of jazz at Yale and in New Haven by creating and advocating for increased opportunities on campus.

What we do

  • Jam Sessions

    YUJC hosts bi-weekly jazz jam sessions, open to players of all experience levels

  • Student Performances

    YUJC organizes a variety of student performances throughout the year, often in collaboration with other student groups

  • Jazz Festival at Yale

    Every Spring, YUJC brings a stellar lineup of artists to perform at the Jazz Festival at Yale—always free and open to the public

  • The Turnaround

    The Turnaround is the YUJC jazz magazine, featuring diverse contributions from students and community members

  • Lessons Program

    Piloted in 2020, YUJC’s application-based lessons program offers subsidized jazz lessons to Yale students
