Announcements

Our 2nd Jam Session was Sunday at the LDub Courtyard from 1-3 pm! Musicians of all experience levels are welcome at Jams, and we love audience members too! A couple of tunes we might play include Stella by Starlight, Red Clay, Stolen Moments, and Besame Mucho.

Our Jazz Combos form is still open! We have had a great number of responses so far but want some more horns to even the groups out! If you are interested fill out this form.

Ilana Zaks, a violinist, New England Conservatory graduate, and current Yale School of Music student is starting up a project to re-record and live perform Concerto for Violin and Jazz band, an amazing piece by David Nathaniel Baker Jr.. Recordings of this song are remarkably hard to find, so Ilana is hoping to make it more readily available to would-be listeners through this project. If you are interested or want more information, you can email ilana.zaks@yale.edu and cc kaleb.assefa@yale.edu.

Further down the pipeline, we have scheduled our first Underbrook show and Masterclass with drummer and composer Chase Elodia on October 13th. Stay tuned for more info on that show in the coming weeks!

Jazz Legend Pharoah Sanders passed away this week. Playing with John Coltrane in his final quartet and being recognized as one of the greats of spirit-driven Jazz, Sanders has left a grand legacy. To read more about his work and impact, click here.
